POSITION TITLE: COVID-19 Tester/Scriber

POSITION LOCATION: Yakutat Community Health Center (YCHC)

POSITION UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF: COVID-19 Manager

WAGE:  $25.00/Hour

POSITION DETAILS: Part-Time Temporary, Non-Exempt/ 2 Positions Availablle

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position functions as part of the Yakutat Community Health Center (YCHC) health care team, assisting YCHC with performing incoming visitor COVID-19 screening as a means to reduce the spread within the Yakutat community. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Maintains screening area according to established protocols: cleans and sanitizes area to ensure compliance with infection control standards; and, ensures all necessary supplies are stocked and organized.

  • Ensures proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Verifies or records identity of patient or donor.
  • Provides education related to screening process, and provides instructions regarding the nasal swab procedure.
  • Perform Nasal Swab Testing through collection of nasopharyngeal swab samples; stores container for subsequent processing.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes equipment and screening area.
  • Serves as general resources providing information regarding the following preventative practices (proper hygiene, social distancing and other practices).
  • Assures confidentiality of patient or donor information, and must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Accurately transcribes patient information to accompany testing samples; verifies patient/donor information matches sample information; maintains accurate logging; and, work with Clinical Staff with submission of samples.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous medical or relevant healthcare experience preferred, but not required.
  • BLS-CPR (American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Equivalent) certification preferred, but not required.
  • The work involves risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions, including exposure to contagious diseases with known and unknown associated health risks. This position requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for long periods of time including gloves, masks, gowns and eye protection. This position requires medical clearance, fit-testing, and training for use of N95 respirator masks.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal and background check.
